Our Expectations for Parents
Foundation Academy students, parents, teachers, and administrators all have responsibility to promote student
learning and growth. We are educational partners who contribute our time, energy, and expertise so that students
can learn to the best of their ability.
The Foundation Academy Parent and Student Handbook outlines what students, parents, teachers and the school
administration must do to ensure student success. Our
School-Parent-Student Contract
describes important commitments requested of the faculty, students and families who are a part of Foundation
Academy. We know that the choice your family has made in joining Foundation Academy is a very important one,
and we want to make sure that families have a full understanding of our unique program.
Our Communication with Parents
We communicate with the parents of our students in many key ways:
- Back to School Night and three Parent-Teacher Conferences are conducted to discuss our academic program
and each student’s performance.
- Quarterly Report Cards and Progress Reports between each Report Card provide formal feedback every 23
days about how each student is progressing in learning our demanding curriculum.
- Each teacher and administrator has a mobile phone and e-mail so that they are accessible to parents and
can communicate regularly regarding students' progress and well-being.
- Students receive weekly Point Sheets that outline the student’s attendance, punctuality, homework
completion, class participation and how the student meets the school’s conduct expectations.
- The school sends home periodic updates that detail upcoming events, addressing whole-school issues,
showcasing student work, and celebrating accomplishments.
Foundation Academy Council Team (Parent Council)
The Foundation Academy Council Team (FACT) is comprised of parents who choose to attend monthly FACT meetings.
In January of each year, FACT elects officers, including a President and Vice President. FACT and its officers
serve on the school’s Board of Trustees. FACT meets monthly to identify ways parents can support their children
in school and to shares ideas, suggestions and feedback with school staff.
